Wine Wednesdays with LaRie: Let’s Make a Digital Vision Board!

You still have “20/20 vision” or nah? I was so annoyed by that saying at the beginning of the year, haha! Little did we know of what was to “come”!

I digress.

Just think about it for a second, for everything that has been created, it started out as a thought in someone’s mind.

I believe with right mindset, hard work, and vision we can create the lives of our dreams. I have. More on that during our meeting!

However, I will say, in order to create the life of our dreams we must have an idea (vision) as to what that might FEEL and look like.

That is where vision boards come in!

Vision boards allow us to visualize or see our lives before it becomes our physical experience.  I like to think of it as a visual road map…I really could on and on!

What makes a vision board so powerful?
My vision board. How to make a digital vision board.

A vision board is such a powerful tool because it allows us to emotionally experience something that isn’t physically ours, yet, but it can surely FEEL like it!  And FEELING is the secret sauce!!

Want to run a marathon? Find photos of a person crossing a finish line or anything that represents you running a race (name badg, running shoes, time clock, finish line).

Find images of someone doing something you would be interested in doing…the possibilities are really endless on the World Wide Web!

-Your phone ( I will be doing a live demonstration on my phone on how to use Unfold (Canva and Pinterest are great resources as well, but I don’t have much experience with either).

If you’d like to do a physical vision board:

-Large selection of magazine clippings (photos and words that jump out and inspire you or represent you ideal goals, aspirations and etc.)

-Glue sticks

-A sturdy board to glue your images to

How do vision boards work?

Our subconscious mind connects to that which we are FEELING and seeing in our mind’s eye and must fill in the “gaps” by drawing those experiences into our physical reality.

One of the most inspiring things for me, is knowing that our subconscious mind doesn’t know the difference between what is real or what is imagined.  Your wish is its command.  That is why scary movies have the ability to scare the hell out of us!

Our conscious minds knows that the movie isn’t real, but our subconscious mind does not, which is in charge of the way we act, or in that situation, react.

With regular visualization practice + ACTION, our subconscious mind finds way to bridge where we are to where we would like to be/do/have… It guides us toward our dreams, with an assist from our RAS (Retricular Activations System).

What is a RAS?

Our RAS  is responsible for quickly filtering out “noise” and compelling us to act toward that which we desire, among many other things. With visualization practice and a new awareness, you’ll start to find “coincidences” occurring in your favor or inspired thought that might make you wonder why you hadn’t thought of those things sooner.

This new, inspired thought will cause you to become more creative in your approach to making things possible in your life. You will have fresh eyes and new ideas that seem to pop out of no where.   People around you will even seem to behave differently.

Conversely, our subconscious can work “against” us as well.  It can keep us stuck in bad situations, bad jobs, bad relationships, bad self-talk and cycles of self-defeat…that which you focus on grows.

Whatever images and messaging you tell yourself on the regular basis is or will become your reality. Focus on the good and more good will come, focus on the bad and more bad will come.

How often should I view my board or do visualizations?

Repetition is key. Repetition is what creates a new belief in our subconscious (thoughts). See (visualize), think, hear or write something often enough and you most certainly start to believe it.

“Believe and your belief will create the fact.” -Neville Goddard

“Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become a reality” — Earl Nightingale

Additionally, I like to place my board in a spot that give me easy access for viewing and taking a moment to focus.  I used to place it on my bedroom wall, now I keep it in my office near my desk, that way i can view it throughout the day.  Even subconsciously taking glances as I walk by.

My very first video on LOA and visualization, it has more than 68,000 views! Please talk a peek, I hope it inspires you too.
