Mommy Time: Why Self-Care is Important For Mom
A Mother’s Day Getaway (Hubby’s Gift😍)
Mommy Time: Why Self-Care is Important For You.
Self-care (Mommy Time) is important because it gives you a peace of mind, fosters relaxation and self cultivation.
First, let’s start with a peace of mind which fosters self reflection, smelling of the roses, getting lost in your own thoughts and dreams while watching the clouds float by.
When I’m running around getting things done my goal is to get-it-done. My son has a pretty serious workload for a second grader and my daughter gets pretty busy too. Pair those things with my work, cooking, cleaning, washing and you have a recipe for running on almost on auto-pilot.
Whenever I’m crazy busy I have to make a concerted effort to stay present with my children. I can remember times when I have wanted to burst into tears when I realize I had not seriously tuned in and locked eyes with my babies all day. 😭
So after I feel good about connecting with all of them, I definitely leave a “slice” for myself.
Next, relaxation, napping, reading, getting a massage, listening to nature, and not having to move a muscle to make a snack, clean, do peacekeeping for a toy stand-off, or heal a melt-down.
Nada. Just you. Alone in your thoughts. 🧘🏾♀️
And last, but not least, practices in self-cultivation for exercise, beauty treatments, meditation, hanging with friends, growing in mind and spirituality.
Please, if you’re a wife and mom who doesn’t get time for herself, dont ask for it, gently and respectfully demand it.
Find a way. I’m down to brainstorm ideas with you, it is a game changer! 🤣
That being said, I am incredibly grateful that my husband has learned how to “kill it”.
In other words, I feel comfortable enough to leave him with our sweet babies (7 & 5) for a week or longer if I need to.
An example, my husband knows how to wash, style and braid our daughters bum-length hair (GLORAAAAAY!) and he’s also our son’s barber. #winning
It feels wonderful knowing he can hold it down, completely, by himself.
It brings me great joy getting to care and provide for my family.
However, no matter how passionate anybody is about anything, at some point, they will need a break.
As you can tell by now, Mommy Time allows me time to squarely place my energy and focus on things that bring me balance and joy in a different way.
A way that makes for an even better me who gets to pour into my beautiful family.
I want to pass this very important message to you too, incase you’ve forgotten. Your hopes, dreams, relaxation, and career matter.
Furthermore, children don’t stay children forever, they are going to grow up.
And if you have put ALL of your free time into them and their interests, who will you be when they leave for college or to live their own adult lives?
Are you interested in waiting until your children are adults to cultivate personal growth, passions, and truly take time for yourself? #momguilt
If this isn’t your life, but you’re as curious as me, please share with a friend who might find this post useful.
Thank you.
Love,

I’m so grateful for my Babe! Thank you so much for sharing your time with me and commenting.
How awesome is this? Thanks for taking me along on a incredible journey! So tranquil. This gave me great ideas on how I can regain myself, instead of putting myself last all the time. I count too ( pun intended).
